Rip off alert
I ordered a fireplace screen and fireplace tools to have in our new to us home for Thanksgiving. I paid almost $50.00 for two day delivery on 11/16.
On 11/23 I received the fireplace tools but no screen. When I called they told me the screen comes by regular ups and won't be here till 11/28. Thats 10 days past the 2 day express that I paid for. The tools that did arrive had been opened and were poorly repackaged.
P&W said I will have to pay to have the order shipped back. I'm disgusted and will never deal with them again. I won't be home to receive the delayed package on 11/23 and will have to pay to have someone there to "refuse the order".
Since UPS just drops things at the door there is no way to refuse the order unless you are standing by waiting for them. Since UPS does not have a pickup in our town I will have to take the returns over 80 miles to a place that will handle UPS pickup s
Preferred solution: refund all shipping charges or take it all back at no charge
The item in the catalog is not what I received
The item i ordered was not the same ad the catalog. But i am kerpong it anyway. Because the person i gave it to likes it
Sells through Amazon - refuses to support their products
I ordered the Plow and Hearth Curved Wood Rack through Amazon - it's Plow and Hearths choice to sell their products through third party vendors. The screws that are supposed to hold the large curved pieces together are far too long and the assembly instructions are pathetic - small illustrations that can barley see with NO words.
Plow and Hearth will NOT replace the screws or even chat with me even though it is their product and they are getting the profits from this sale. It is Plow and Hearths product and they don't support it. Will never purchase from Plow and Hearth again.
They make more sales by selling through third parties and should support their customers when it is Plow and Hearths product that is defective.

Disappointed in quality
This year I ordered a 2nd wicker pouf side table and its totally different from last year's....quality is not the same...doesn't match but too much hassle to return!!!!

I ordered a curved wood pathway. the picture of this item showed a curve with a straight section.
I phoned their customer service prior to ordering. I was told, the picture is exactly how the item will appear. I asked how wide was each section of wood. Customer service told me each piece of wood was 1- 1 1/2 inches wide.
the picture of the item showed 44 pieces of wood. 44 x 1 would be around the 4 feet the item description stated. when the item arrived, it was just a curved piece containing 22 pieces of wood. when i phoned customer service to complain, i was told i should have known what i was receiving from the item description even though their customer service told me otherwise prior to ordering.
they would allow me to return the item but I would not be re-embursed the 8.99 shipping nor the cost of return shipping. so BUYER BEWARE.
DO NOT TRUST PICTURES OF THEIR ITEMS AND YOU CAN'T TRUST CUSTOMER SERVICE'S DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM EITHER. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AGAIN FROM PLOW AND HEARTH.

They resell your e-mail address, you will never get away from SPAM if you give them your e-mail address.
DO NOT ever give them your e-mail address! I am very protective of my e-mail address, I never receive SPAM, etc.
I purchased something from Plow & Hearth online (requiring me to give them my e-mail address), and within 1 week, I started receiving over 10 SPAM e-mails a day - from every type of company you can imagine...insurance, home warranty, whatever. They will sell your e-mail address to everyone! If you must purchase from them online, set up a separate e-mail account and address only for them. You will regret giving Plow and Hearth your e-mail address.

BEWARE: Deliberate misrepresentation of product
Ordered rug (waterhog). Many size choices but Sizing was important so I paid extra to get the 3 foot x 5 foot size.
Rug arrived & it was 33" x 50". Not even close to 3' x 5' (36" x 60"). I called & the Rep said the "website states the sizing is approximate". I said 33" x 50" isn't even CLOSE to 36" x 60" !
When I stated that 50" is more "approximately" 4 feet, she replied "our notes say that rug is 34" x 52". Even IF it had been the size that their "inside notes" described, it's still 8" shorter than 5 feet--OBVIOUSLY NOT even CLOSE to the size advertised. They are DELIBERATELY MISREPRESENTING the size of the rugs they are selling--by A LOT.
Then she balked at them paying for the return of the rug, though they finally agreed to do so. This is wrong on so many levels!

Ordered a folk art rug. They did not contact me after a few weeks so I called and asked where is the rug?
They said it was "lost in transit". Of course, rug sold out. They never even told me what was going on. I asked for a credit on my card.
I am done with them. Who needs this?
Bad customer service
Our order of wall art arrived with one of the panels broken. We contacted them and they said they had a replacement panel and they would ship it to us the next day.
We got an email the next day with the shipping information and a order #. After 8 days and no contact from them. And no replacement package. I used the chat service and gave them the email that I was sent that had the new order #.
They said could be used to track the shipment. I was told that they didn't have the replacement and none were expected ever again. So why didn't they contact us to say they made a mistake? And that the prior email that said they shipped the replacement was a mistake.
Now they are going to send a return UPS label and said to expect it in a week or so. Then 4 or 5 days after they receive the returned broken item, they will refund us our money. This is really bad customer service and we will never buy anything from them again!
I just hope the coming 2-3 week process of the return works out. I can only predict more problems before this is over.

Ugly bulbs!
Purchased the Amaryllis, Tulips and Star of Bethlehem Flower Bulb Gift Garden as a Christmas present for my mom. Bulbs arrived about three weeks before Christmas.
Instructions and information with bulbs minimal. Mom lives in Arizona so they had great temperatures and filtered sun. Pictures of product on web site show full beautiful baskets of flowers. Don't believe it.
Two of the three different flower types bloomed at separate times and were gangly and ugly. The center showcase flower, the Amaryllis, has yet to bloom. My mom has a green thumb and can grow anything, but not these failures.
I am glad they ran out of the product before I could order another one. What a disappointment.

Plow And Hearth - Bench Review from Huntington, Indiana
Bought folding garden bench for $200 that touted "naturally weather resistant". It arrived with some cracks in the wood and Plow and Hearth sent another side to replace.
It was in the shade for the summer and stored indoors for majority of year. One year later and the bench has cracks in the wood. No one has sat on bench...just decorative. Plow and hearth won't stand behind poor quality.
Just out of one year warranty. Should have sent the bench back when we first received it.
7.5 foot Artificial Nordmann fir tree damaged
I ordered the 7.5 foot Nordmann fir artificial Christmas tree from Plow and Hearth. Keep in mind this tree was $450.
When it arrived to my disappointment one of the strands of lights on one of the sections was not working. When I called customer service they said there was nothing that they could do. They were not sure if the tree would be discontinued so they could not even recommend sending me a part or where to direct me to get the part. I feel that Plow and Hearth could have given me a partial credit in their catalog for the tree since it was so much money.
I do like the tree, why should I have to pay to return it if it is not in perfect working order. Very, very disappointed in Plow and Hearth. Essentially they just said tough luck and kept my payment in full. I would think twice about ordering from them again.
Especially something so costly. This tree is not available from any other distributor or I probably would have sent it back.

I ordered two bulb gardens on December 9th which they said would ship within 1 - 2 weeks. After checking on the status last week, nothing had changed.
I called the company and was assured that the bulb gardens would be delivered to the two recipients before Christmas. When I checked my order status this morning, it still says "Processed - Sent For Fulfillment ". I just called again and was told that the vendor does not have any more stock. The company representative apologized, but that doesn't explain why anyone from Plow and Hearth has never contacted me to let me know that my order was not going to be completed.
They certainly have had time to send me daily advertising emails. This is ridiculous; with five days until Christmas, it's too late to send two 90+ year old ladies a gift in time.
A supervisor is supposed to call me back; I'm not holding my breath! I will NEVER order from Plow and Hearth again.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!
WORST EXPERIENCE!!! I ordered patio furniture in August and was not informed that is was on backorder when purchasing the items.
I received an email that the shipment would arrive the first week in September, I was fine with that. When I did not receive the confirmation of delivery I called Plow and Hearth, they told me the items wouldn't be available until November! I decided to wait on the items anyways. I just got a call from the freight company and they are refusing to leave my items if I am not there, the window they gave me is from 9am-6pm.
I can not take a day off of work and live alone so what am I supposed to do?? I called Plow and Hearth and they said there was nothing they could do and if I'm not there, I will "decline" my purchase and lose the $189 I paid in shipping! I then asked them to change the address and deliver it to my work, they told me it would be an additional charge to change the address even though it is only 4 miles from the original location.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this company!!! I will NEVER order from them again and will make sure I tell everyone about this experience!

Promises of product for a month. Nothing. Now he can't get it.Also, there is a supervisor in the store that NEVER sleaks!unless speak to her. I've been on the store over 10 minutes and she said nothing to me.
I finally asked for help, and she pointed to where the item "should" be.I'm done with this store & possibly Plow and Hearth altogether. U don't have products that!are all that unique and they r definitely over priced.
